Happy New Year!
あけましておめでとうございます。(Akemashite- Omedetou- Gozaimasu)
2020 was the year that no one had predicted (apart from Bill Gates, maybe....) and our beloved theatre industry was forced to close and resulting in many job loses and the cancellation of shows. Our new show, "The Great Race!" had an exciting tour scheduled and our creative team and actors were heartbroken when we had to postpone it.
Like many people in the U.K., we spent our first lockdown feeling slightly lost, panicking and unsure of our next move. Yet despite limitations, we were delighted to offer our kamishibai Tanabata story online for Japan Matsuri and to artsdepot, where we are an Artistic Associate.
So what's next?
In 2021, we plan to expand our repertoire in kamishibai shows so that when the venues re-open, we can offer Covid-friendly performances to our young audiences and their families. We truly have missed performing to them and seeing their smiles!
What we have learned in 2020 was that our passion to create and connect with our audience is something that no pandemic can take away from us and that we are a strong and resilient company. With that in mind, we will continue to survive and strive in 2021, the year of the Ox!
